+ Brookings Institution produces report focused on Louisville
Brookings institution produced the first report of its kind focused on Louisville this week. The report, “How Louisville can become a strong and more equitable hub for AI and data economy jobs,” observed and analyzed the steps Louisville is taking and can take to embrace artificial intelligence, data analytics, and the internet of things.
“This report shows that we’re on the right path, and that with the right focus and right people at the table we can be a model. We must make sure that table is an inclusive one and that we are reaching underserved populations so that they too can be a part of the new economy,” said Mayor Greg Fischer.
The report was discussed in depth during this week's Future of Work Summit.

+ Mayor's Give a Day has been expanded to a full month
On April 1st, Mayor Greg Fischer joined representatives from SOS, Metro United Way, and other volunteers to kick off the annual Mayor's Give a Day.
Give A Day started as a one-day service opportunity in 2011. The city set a new world record in 2019 with 235,000 volunteers and acts of compassion. This year’s Give A Day has been expanded to a full month in celebration of National Volunteer Month and to allow non-profits and volunteers more time to plan and participate in safe service projects.
Group and individual projects are offered, some may be virtual, while others are offered in-person in compliance with CDC and Kentucky Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines to protect the health and safety of participants, and many will be outdoors.
Many of the participating non-profit agencies have flexible dates and will work with you to find a place and time that is convenient.
Individuals or groups wanting to find a project should visit mygiveaday.com, where projects and needs submitted by local non-profit agencies and other groups are listed. Individuals and companies should also use the website to report their own community service.
