+ Discussion on Myanmar with World Affairs Council

The Office for Globalization is dedicated to engaging the International community who have found a home in Louisville and fostering multicultural understanding amongst all residents.
To this end, we have launched "Global Connections," a conversation series that seeks to engage the international community and native born populations with current events happening around the world. The series features international voices and international relations experts.
We have partnered with the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana for our first Global Connections event that will focus on current events in Myanmar.
The discussion will be moderated by Amos Izerimana, the program manager for the Office for Globalization.

+ Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Job Fair
From Feb. 12, at 12 p.m. to Feb. 15, at 12 p.m.
Kentuckiana Electrical apprenticeship and training is hosting virtual job fairs this weekend. All interested individuals must complete an online application and have it submitted prior to the closure of the application process on February 15, at 12 p.m.
Kentuckiana Electrical apprenticeship and training plans to host an in person fair later this summer to bring viable employment opportunities to individuals in the community. They have formed strong bonds with many of the trades programs in the city and look forward to connecting interested individuals with these opportunities.

+ Fiberworks Saturday pop-up sales
Saturday, Feb. 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fiberworks will be selling unique crafts items including pillows, masks, household goods, kitchenware, winter fashion/accessories, and more!
You can find them in front of the Rosewater Bookstore at 4634 S. 3rd St. on Saturday, Feb.13, to support the immigrant and refugee seamstresses of Fiberworks.
+ Webinar on overcoming vaccine hesitancy in immigrant communities
Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
While efforts to administer the COVID-19 vaccine are ramping up across the country, there is a dramatic rise in misinformation being shared. As a result, many individuals and families are hesitant to receive the vaccine, and this is especially true in many immigrant communities.
Welcoming America invites all to join this important conversation with a panel of distinguished speakers who will share:
- Current information about the vaccine and its effectiveness,
- Examples of how to use trusted community leaders and peers as sources of information, and resources and tools that have proven successful to dispel misinformation and how to repurpose them for communities.

+ Sister Cities Lunch and Learn
Thursday, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m.
The Office for Globalization is partnering with the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana on Sister Cities programming. 2021 will feature the interconnections between Louisville and our Sister Cities around the world.
Next Thursday, the discussion will focus on Louisville and our Sister City, Montpellier, France, on "Perspectives on Social Change".
Join Clare Hart, Vice-President for International Affairs and European Cooperation & Municipal Councillor for International Relations, and Kendall Boyd, Chief Equity Officer for Louisville Metro Government, as they discuss how Louisville and Montpellier have responded to the calls for racial justice and what cities can do in the wake of unrest.
The discussion will be moderated by Sabeen Nasim, the director for the Office for Globalization.

Every Wednesday in February from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
KentuckianaWorks is hosting a weekly webinar every Wednesday in February to help students file their FAFSA.
The webinar will cover everything you need to know about filling out the application and give you an opportunity to ask one of their expert staff members any questions you have.

Learn basic Spanish in a virtual classroom setting through activities, worksheets, and song. Ideal for beginners with little to no knowledge of the Spanish language. This course is free, but registration is required.
