The focus at the LouVax site continues to be on vaccinating our K-12 educators following Governor Beshear's mandate that educators would all have their first vaccine dose by the end of the first week in February.
On Friday, Dr. Hartlage said that nearly 10,000 educators from the public, private and independent school systems were vaccinated through the LouVax site. Jefferson County Public School system teachers comprised 6,600 of those educators.
"All of our elementary educators both public and private have been through this site. They should all have completed their first shots by the end of this week," Dr. Hartlage said.

At Tuesday's weekly COVID-19 update, Dr. Moyer stated that Louisville's case counts for the virus were its third highest total to date.
Here are the COVID-19 data metrics for the week of January 19,2021:
- 3,038 positive cases reported
- 56.6 cases per 100,000 population
Dr. Moyer said the weekly COVID data shows that the virus is still active and present in the community. She added that many cases are coming from household contacts, but those individuals are bringing the virus home.
She reported that people are often exposing others in the workplace, with family and friends outside the home, continuing to run errands, and going to restaurants while they're infectious.
"The numbers are going down, but they are still not good. This is why it's very important to always wear a face covering, social distance, wash your hands and stay home as much as possible. This disease is still a serious threat. I encourage everyone to get tested weekly."
