Event set for St Stephen's Church parking lot beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Louisville - President David James (D-6) announces a COVID-19 Drive thru Testing site will be available to the community this Friday, December 11th in the parking lot of St. Stephen Church.
“It is our goal to make COVID-19 testing available to everyone in the community,” says President James. “If you are unsure if you have come in contact with someone who has the virus, then this is a chance to be tested and know what steps you need to take.”
There is no appointment necessary for the testing. It will be done on a first come, first serve basis. You will not have to leave the car. If you have health insurance, then bring proof. If not, testing will still be conducted and covered with funding from the CARES Act. Please wear a face mask during the drive thru process.
Galen College of Nursing is partnering with President James and the Church to perform the tests. The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has approved this site for testing. The St. Stephen’s Church parking lot is located at 1009 S 15th Street.
Galen College of Nursing’s Executive Vice President of Nursing, Audria Denker, DNP, RN, said “Galen is proud to help in the efforts to keep our community safe and healthy, while providing a unique opportunity for our students to learn and grow. The crisis has shone a light on the demand for nurses and the critical role they play as the backbone of healthcare. The valuable skills our students have learned and continue to learn, for their future roles in the prevention, response, and management of disease, is imperative to quality care across the country.”
“Given the rise in COVID-19 cases locally, it is important for our health officials to keep track of this pandemic,” says President James. “I encourage everyone to get tested, wear a face mask, socially distance and follow other recommended guidelines to stay safe.”
