The Louisville Metro Council will offer a public comment session for those who would like to speak on the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Metro Government and the River City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #614.
The virtual session will be held on Monday, November 2nd beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the Metro Council’s Labor and Economic Development Committee meeting. It will end promptly at 3:00 p.m.
The comment session will be held virtually via WebEx Events and advanced registration is required. Each person will have three (3) minutes to speak.

The deadline to register is Sunday, November 1, at 12:00 p.m. Please register with the name, email address, and phone number you will be calling from to ensure you are recognized. Information on the Clerk’s webpage explains how to participate in the meeting.

As Kentucky families continue to battle COVID-19 and Thanksgiving and Christmas draw near, Governor Andy Beshear is warning families to watch out for scammers who try to take advantage of generous Kentuckians.
The Governor is taking action to help protect Team Kentucky by publishing a Charitable Giving Guide that advises how to verify legitimate charities and avoid charity scams, which can increase during the Christmas season and as the tax season draws to an end.

 KYTC has closed three ramps between 9th Street and I-64:
- Exit 4 off of I-64 to 9th Street
- Ramp from 9th Street to I-64 East
- Ramp from 9th Street to I-64 West
The following ramps are still open:
- I-64 East to 9th Street
- Main Street to I-64 East
The project involves fixing the barrier wall on the north side of the exit ramp as well as improving the drainage on all ramps.
Their contractor expects to be complete by the end of the year.
This Sunday, November 1, marks the end of Daylight Savings Time. You’ll need to turn back clocks, and reset things like lighting timers, thermostats and security systems. It’s also a great time to check all smoke alarms.
The time change will bring more light to your morning, but now the evenings will get darker earlier. This is a perfect opportunity to look at all streetlights in your area and report outages!
Streetlight outages are reported directly to LG&E. You can report them online at https://lge-ku.com/outages/report/streetlight. Repairs are made by LG&E within seven days. If the repair hasn’t occurred within seven days, please contact our office at (502) 574-1104, since there might be a larger electric issue to report for the light. Let’s see how many lights we can turn back on by the end of 2020!
One more thing. LMPD advises everyone to illuminate their property at night. Leave outside lights on, check lights regularly and replace burnt out bulbs.

Submissions close on November 6, 2020. The winners will receive a $500 Amazon Gift Card, as well as gifts from the Kentucky Derby Festival and recognition as an Official Kentucky Derby Festival Community Champion.

As part of the Russell/Beecher Terrace Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant, Louisville Metro Housing Authority and the Louisville Metro Government will recreate or enhance significant recreational amenities on and near Beecher Terrace. These include:

Replacing Old Walnut Street Park;

Preserving the historic Baxter Community Center building;

Improving Baxter Square Park; and
-
Providing new recreational activities
Since we are currently unable to hold in-person design workshops because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the planning team has developed a survey to help better understand what uses members of the community would like to see at the new Beecher Terrace.

Kentucky Shakespeare's 2020 annual spring parks your was canceled due to COVID-19 but was remounted for one performance only, filmed on the Central Park stage in August, made possible by Louisville Metro Council Members. The production is now available at this link for District 4 residents to view, and it has also been delivered to district schools or viewing. With a small cast, compact sets, and simple tour costumes, the story of the Danish prince set on the path of revenge by his father's ghost comes to life in an intimate performance style.
Crystian Wiltshire plays the title role in this production, He's joined by the talented ensemble cast of Jon Becraft, Jennice Butler, Gregory Maupin, Tesse McShane, Mollie Murk, Tyler Rosenblatt, and Tyler Tate. Associate Artistic Director Amy Attaway directs.

MSD Wastewater Rate Assistance

The Louisville water company has not suspended water service for late payments since the onset of the pandemic. However, with over 12,000 late accounts, the Louisville Water Company has implemented Drops of Kindness, a catered payment solution that takes into account customer hardships, as well as pairs them with community resources that can provide assistance.  Who should get tested for COVID-19?
- Anyone who has symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, sore throat, congestion or runny nose. Contact your healthcare provider about scheduling a test.
- Testing for people who do not have symptoms (asymptomatic) including:
- Persons without symptoms who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Consider getting tested during your 14-day quarantine if you do not develop symptoms.
- Healthcare facility workers, workers in congregate living settings, and first responders without symptoms.
- Residents in long-term care facilities or other congregate living settings, including prisons and shelters, without symptoms
- People without symptoms who have been in large gatherings where social distancing was difficult, and you do not know if you were in close contact with a positive case.

COVID-19 Testing Expansion
Gov. Beshear reminded Kentuckians to take advantage of the state’s partnership with Kroger, which has brought free drive-through testing across the commonwealth. Information on how to register at more than 200 sites throughout the commonwealth can be found here.

Gov. Beshear reminded Kentuckians that the COVID-19 reporting hotline is available to help keep everyone safe.
People who witness dangerous non-compliance with coronavirus mandates, including requirements for mask wearing, social distancing and sanitation, at Kentucky businesses are encouraged to call the COVID-19 reporting hotline at 833-KY SAFER (833-597-2337).
