In addition to the information you might expect to find (confirmed cases, positivity rate, etc.), a map of cases by zip code is available as well. Free Financial Navigator Services Help Residents Deal with Financial Impact of COVID-19

The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE) has awarded Bank On Louisville/Louisville Metro Government, in partnership with LHOME, a local Certified Development Financial Institution (CDFI), with an $80,000 grant to support the creation of a Financial Navigator program. The program is designed to help residents deal with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, by receiving free, remote assistance in navigating critical financial issues and referrals to other social services and financial resources.

LHOME and the City of Louisville anticipate launching the service in mid to late September 2020.  Visit  HERE  or LHOME  for regular updates including how to apply and other details.

Applications will be accepted now through October 31, 2020, or until funds are depleted. Jefferson County residents must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. Appointments by phone - call 502-991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com. The toll-free service is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

JCPS Schools To Continue NTI   Dr. Pollio announced at a press conference that he would be recommend extending Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) for the next several weeks, as our county is currently in the orange zone per KDE’s recommended school reopening guidelines (click here to view).

Exploring Kentucky's Mighty Oaks Art and Writing Contest

Art and Writing Contest for children from 1st - 12th grade The Jefferson County Conservation District would like to invite you and your students to participate in the Annual Art and Writing Contest sponsored by the Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts!   Jefferson County School Teachers and Parents:  The topic for this year is “Exploring Kentucky's Mighty Oaks”.  The contest is open to all schools in Jefferson County, this includes public, private and home schools. The art contest is for students in grades 1st-5th and the writing contest is for students in grades 6th -12th. Downloadable forms are available at the LINK along with more information about the contest. The deadline for entries is December 1st. UPS to Hire 3,600 Seasonal Employees in Metro

UPS officials said hiring has already begun with pay starting at $14.50 per hour, with bonuses of up to $150/week. They are hiring package handlers, driver helpers, tractor-trailer drivers and personal vehicle delivery drivers. There are both full- and part-time jobs. Roads surrounding Iroquois Park May Experience Heavy Evening Traffic on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays Due to Patrons Attending the 2020  Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular This season the annual Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular in Iroquois Park will be a drive through experience. While pre-registration of ticket sales and a traffic plan are in place, we want to remind neighbors that the peak times of this event are on Fridays and Saturdays from 7-11pm. Please consider making a plan for alternative routes of travel during those times to avoid any delays. Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular runs from October 1st-November 1st. • TIME:  7:30pm in early October and closer to 7:00pm later in October. We are asking cars to arrive no earlier than 6:45PM. The hours of operation are Dusk – 11 p.m. (Sunday – Thursday) and Dusk – Midnight (Friday & Saturday)

October 24th Louisville Earth Walk Goes Citywide

The annual Louisville Earth Walk is going city-wide this year out of respect for everyone’s safety during the CV-19 crisis. So while we will not gather together in one place at one time on Saturday, October 24th, everyone is invited to participate - from all across our city.  Everyone is invited to join from wherever they are in support of a vision where every neighborhood has safe and clean water, air, and soil.  This year there are two exciting registration options: The 5K Walk option invites participants to get in their walk anytime on October 24 on their own favorite paths and routes or wherever. The Free Form invites participants to celebrate however they like from wherever they are. Louisville Grows will be hosting a Virtual Citizen Forester 101 Training

Attendees will learn how to properly plant a tree and lead a volunteer group during tree plantings to help restore Louisville's urban tree canopy. Participants are encouraged to gain hands-on experience at upcoming tree plantings on Saturday, October 24th or 31st.

Arbor Day Foundation To Deliver 700 FREE Trees To Louisville Residents

TreesLouisville is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to provide 700 free trees to Louisville residents. This is the fourth round of a partnership that has delivered 2,975 trees at no cost to residents. These trees will have a significant impact on energy savings, carbon sequestration, and improved water quality for decades to come. Trees should arrive in late October or early November, just in time for the tree planting season. The following species are available: Tulip Poplar, Willow, Blackgum, Sycamore, American Beech, Sugar Maple and Redbud. This “Community Canopy” program is one of the ways TreesLouisville confronts the estimated yearly loss of 54,000 trees in our city, mostly on residential properties.  The organization advocates for Louisvillians to plant trees as a proven strategy to combat the urban heat island effect and clean our water and air. $25 Donation for a Kitten

It’s PURRtober and the purrfect season to fall in love! Kitten adoptions are now just a $25 donation at Animal House Adoption Center. Spay/neuter, microchip and vaccination are included! FREE Pit Bull Adoptions

Did you know that Pit Bulls are the most overbred dog breed in Louisville and make up the majority of the LMAS Shelter pet population? Pit Bulls can be great companions to families, despite stigma because of their breed.   If you love Pit Bulls, don’t shop. Adopt! Pit Bull adoptions are always free at LMAS and include spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. To meet adoptable Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes, visit Animal House Adoption Center (3516 Newburg Rd.), open daily from 12-6pm. Walk-ins Welcome!
