District 10 news

Justice for Breonna and healing our city

"Breonna Taylor’s death is tragic and we must continue to talk about and work toward healing our city," Councilman Mulvihill said.

Justice for Breonna may not have occurred through the state court system as expressed by many of our residents but it can come through police reform and systemic change in our city.

"If we want to make change, then let your voices be heard in Frankfort," Councilman Mulvihill said. "Please call your legislators and ask for a statewide ban to no knock warrants, subpoena power for a Civilian Review Board, and to allow administration and elected officials to discuss and talk about pending investigations of police misconduct."

"We understand the hurt and frustration by many of the decision but we must not let this lead to violence," Mulvihill added. "It’s totally unacceptable, the violence that led to two officers being shot, a business looted on Preston Highway, and businesses damaged along Bardstown Road, downtown and other parts of our city.”

Curfew extended - 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Curfew rules

Mayor Greg Fischer has extended the countywide curfew through the weekend. The curfew is from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The curfew is set to end at 6:30 Monday morning.

The Mayor also announced that Louisville Metro Government facilities in the downtown corridor will remained closed until Monday at 6:30 a.m., although employees will continue teleworking where possible.

The curfew does not apply to people commuting to work, house of worship for services or seeking medical attention for themselves or others.

Interim Chief Robert Schroeder noted that while there will be a great focus downtown, where most demonstrations have been centered, law enforcement will be monitoring communities and critical infrastructure throughout the city. The Mayor and Chief stressed that the public should base their behaviors on facts and not participate in the spread of misinformation. Residents can help by following the Mayor’s Office, LMPD and other official Louisville Metro Government social media accounts for updates.
