Meet our new D10 intern, Andrew Meiners!
Hi everyone! I’m Andrew Meiners, and I’m a staff helper in Councilman Pat Mulvihill’s office. I was born in Louisville, but until recently I lived in Naples, Florida.
I just graduated from duPont Manual High School, and am now attending the University of Louisville. I was part of the Journalism and Communication magnet program there, where we managed student-run publications, and I was the social media director of the online publication Manual RedEye last year.
I’m really passionate about activism and giving back to the community, especially through the American Cancer Society since I’m a cancer survivor myself. A fun fact about me is I speak three languages: English, French, and Irish. I’m looking forward to getting to work to improve District 10!

Louisville Metro Council bans "conversion therapy"
Louisville Metro Council last night passed an ordinance banning so-called “conversion therapy," joining twenty states and some seventy cities in enacting legislation protecting youth from these harmful practices. Councilman Mulvihill was a sponsor of this ordinance.
Conversion therapy describes a range of dangerous and thoroughly discredited practices that falsely claim to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. The practices don’t work and they harm the people subjected to them. Minors are especially vulnerable, and conversion therapy can lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, and suicide. For those reasons, every mainstream medical and mental health organization rejects the practices.
The ordinance is here.
