Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is urging families to verify that their contact information is up-to-date, and that they are registered to receive text messages from JCPS as the district prepares for the start of Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI). 

Up-to-date email addresses and phone numbers will be important for families who need to request a Chromebook and/or hotspot for the upcoming school year.  Communication from a student’s school and teachers also requires a valid email or phone number.

With job changes and work from home scenarios, existing email addresses may no longer be valid and need updating. For families currently receiving district and school emails and text messages, no action is needed at this time. 

To ensure parents and guardians are receiving information from JCPS, they are encouraged to take the following steps:

To make sure you receive text messages, simply opt in to School Messenger by texting Y to 67587.  You MUST opt in to this system to receive text messages.  Even if JCPS has your correct phone number on file, you won’t receive text messages if you haven’t opted in to School Messenger.

To receive emails from the district and your child’s school, you must have your current email address in our JCPS system.  Information can be updated in the Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal login, you can set up an account here.

If you have an existing account, go to Parent Portal and click “Log on to the Parent Portal.” 

1. Choose Campus Parent   
2. Enter log in credentials (user name and password)

2. Click Family Information
3. Click Update (correct your information then click ‘Update’ again) 

Families who have previously “unsubscribed” to emails from JCPS, or reported the emails as spam, will not receive future emails.   

JCPS’ first day is scheduled for August 25th.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of upcoming traffic impacts this week as construction continues in several areas across the I-Move Kentucky project. This work will involve overnight lane closures in some areas of the project. Drivers should be cautious when traveling in these areas. Signage and flaggers will be in place to alert drivers of lane closures and construction zones. Work schedules may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other unforeseen delays.

I-71/I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) interchange – Crews are working in the median area to prepare for construction of a new collector distributor lane and widen I-71 in that area.

• One lane of I-71 southbound will be closed at the I-71/254 interchange.
• Work and lane closures will occur overnight, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
• Starting Thursday, July 16.
• Located between mile point 8.7 and mile point 9.8 of I-71.

Gene Snyder Freeway, between Interstate 64 and Taylorsville Road – A crew will be performing drainage and utility work in the median area between northbound and southbound lanes.

• Work will occur throughout the week.
• Traffic is not expected to be impacted.
• Located between mile point 23 and mile point 25 of I-265.

Brownsboro Road (KY 1694) bridge over I-71 – Crews continue construction work to prepare to replace the bridge over I-71. A water transmission line is also being relocated in the area in preparation of bridge construction.

• Work started in mid-May.
• Short, periodic stoppages of traffic on KY 1694 (Brownsboro Road) may be necessary.

I-265 bridges over La Grange Road – Maintenance and concrete patching work continues as part of improvements to I-265.

• Project started last month.
• No traffic impacts are expected.

I-265 bridges over Westport Road – Maintenance and concrete patching work continues as part of improvements to I-265.

• Project started in early May.
• No traffic impacts are expected.

Who should get tested for COVID-19? 

HIGH PRIORITY 

• Hospitalized patients with symptoms
• Healthcare facility workers, workers in congregate living settings, and first responders with symptoms
• Residents in long-term care facilities or other congregate living settings, including prisons and shelters, with symptoms

PRIORITY

• Persons with symptoms of potential COVID-19 infection, including: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or sore throat.
• Persons without symptoms who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive
• People without symptoms who have been in large gatherings where social distancing was difficult

Bashford Manor

Walmart is partnering to offer drive-thru testing located at Bashford Manor. Testing will be offered Mondays-Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to those who qualify.

First responders, healthcare workers without symptoms, and anyone older than 18 with symptoms qualify at this location.

Kroger Health is offering a mobile testing site at Southern High School. Services will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and open to everyone.
