Dear Neighbor,

We wish you and your family a safe and (socially-distant) celebratory Independence Day. Please enjoy the holiday responsibly since we are facing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide.

Metro Council is on a two-week break, so we will pause our eNews. We will continue to monitor email and phone messages intermittently, but please allow additional time for responses to your concerns. If things need immediate attention, please call/email Metro311 and copy our office. If you have an emergency, please call 911. Continue to be aware that the City is still limiting in-person contact and operating on increased response times for non-life-threatening crimes and property concerns for many obvious reasons.

Have a great weekend,

BrentSignature

July 3 | Waste Collection NOT affected by holiday

As a reminder - There will be no interruption to residential garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulky waste collection within the Louisville Metro Urban Service District (former Louisville city limits) on Friday, July 3, 2020.

To receive automatic reminders of changes due to holidays, download the Recycle Coach app at the App Store or on Google Play. Residents who rely on private waste haulers should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

The Waste Reduction Center, our staffed recycling drop-off locations, and the Haz Bin hazardous waste disposal site, will be closed on Saturday, July 4. A map and complete list of the drop-off sites and regular operating hours can be found on this website.

Online Survey | Search for a new LMPD Chief

Mayor Fischer has asked all members of the community to share their thoughts on what we need in a new Louisville Metro Police Chief. This survey is available online below or you can call (502) 528-3543 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday if you don't have computer access or need assistance filling out the survey. Call-takers will assist those who call the number and input their answers to questions on a community survey which became available earlier this month online.

The survey asks for input in several areas, including:

  • The three most important qualities or skills residents would like to see in the next police chief;
  • What suggestions residents have for improving police services; and
  • What residents would like to see a new chief accomplish immediately and over the next two to three years.

The survey will be available by phone and online through July. As of now, more than 8,000 residents have already completed the survey's online version.
