Curfew Announced

I am saddened by the terrible events of last night. While many people have sought to protest peacefully over the last couple of days, a significant number of out-of-town groups have filtered into town as well. Those groups are stoking the events we witnessed last night. It is obvious they have little concern for our community or the damage they leave behind.

In response, Mayor Fischer has implemented a curfew which will be enforced from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. tonight and tomorrow night. Some details on the curfew are below:

May I leave my home? Everyone should remain at home and out of common areas during curfew hours.

What happens if I go out? You could be cited for a curfew violation and asked to return home.

Are there exceptions? Exceptions are for commuting to work, visiting houses of worship, and anyone involved in an action medically necessary to protect themselves, a friend, or a family member.

Can my business be open? Yes, but you should not have any customers after 9 p.m. as everyone should be home and out of common areas during curfew hours.

To maintain order, there will be a significant presence from LMPD, Kentucky State Police, and the National Guard. Please stay home as requested so that they can more easily identify those who are here to cause trouble.
