Last Night's Council Meeting
Those caught illegally dumping in Metro Louisville will soon find themselves facing a new penalty along with fines and possibly the impounding of the vehicle used in illegal dumping.
In the alleyways that have seen the worst dumping, solar operated cameras were placed to catch individuals on film. LMPD beat officers have also made a concentrated effort to ride the alleyways more frequently.
While these efforts slowed the frequency of dumping, perpetrators only faced a fine. With this new legislation, individuals choosing to illegally dump within Metro Louisville will not only face a higher fine but may have the vehicle used to transport the illegally dumped debris impounded for up to twelve months.
This legislation allows for LMPD Officers, Code Enforcement Officers and any other city officials authorized to enforce any provision of the Louisville Metro Code the ability to enforce the new law.
Prior to releasing any vehicle that has been impounded, all outstanding citations, towing, handling and storage charges shall be paid in full.
New LMPD Crime Mapping System
The Louisville Metro Police Department has launched a new tool to give you the most up to date information on crime in your neighborhood.
My office will continue to send out overall maps of crime in both the 6th & 7th Divisions in our biweekly email newsletter.
Would you like to help Metro Parks plan for future parks?
Would you like to voice your opinion about what type of facilities are most important?
Would you like to tell us what we are doing well, or could do better?
If the answer is “yes”, then visit www.Metro-parks.org and click on the “Take our survey” link. This link is located on the top of the home page. Ten minutes of your time will give us invaluable information on how we can continue to grow and improve Metro Parks. Thank you!!

From time to time, our office receives inquiries and comments regarding the services received since the merger of the former city and county governments.
Questions like “why does downtown get free garbage and recycling services”? “Or fire protection”? “Or street lights?” and statements like “we pay taxes but receive nothing in return” are not uncommon in the District 11 office.
The short answer is that the Urban Services District (USD), formerly the "old city”, residents pay an extra real estate tax of approximately $.37 cents on every $100 that residents in the “county” do not pay. For this extra tax, the USD receives garbage service, street lights, and fire protection.
If you have any questions regarding the USD or the suburban areas please do not hesitate to send me an email or call the office at (502) 574-1111
