COVID-19 (coronavirus) Preparedness

wash hands

As of March 2, no cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) had been reported in Louisville or Kentucky.  But Louisville’s Department of Health and Wellness is working with local, state and national partners to stay informed and adapt to the changing COVID-19 outbreak.

Louisville Metro has a website page devoted to the issue.  It currently includes links to information from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization (including a video on handwashing), as well as a discussion of local preparedness. Arm yourself with accurate information and facts!

Broadway all the Way Survey

broadway

http://broadwayalltheway.org/

Louisville Metro’s Office of Advanced Planning and Sustainability is in the process of creating a visionary plan for the future of Broadway. The plan’s study area is the entire Broadway corridor from Shawnee Park to Cave Hill Cemetery. The goal is to create a safe, vibrant, multimodal corridor that meets the needs of all citizens, especially those that live along Broadway, and that will serve as a robust catalyst for economic development throughout Louisville. To date, the project team has conducted a community forum, engaged users directly along the corridor and created an existing conditions analysis that identifies the strengths and weaknesses of Broadway. Continued public input is critical to ensure that the vision created for the corridor is reflective of the community’s desires and needs. We encourage you to visit the project website to learn more about the project, participate in the online survey and utilize the interactive maps to share your thoughts. If you have specific questions please fell free to reach out to Michael King at 502-574-0032 or Michael.king3@louisvilleky.gov

Look Who's Pictured in District 4!

1

The Old Medical School located on Chestnut Street near 1st Street has been transformed into a beautiful, welcoming addition to our Ronald McDonald House.

Leland Woodmansee was on hand for the ribbon cutting and shared stories of having an office for many years in this space.

2

Many thanks to Hal Hedley for leading the way and to the volunteers and investors who spent years making this dream come true. The enhanced Ronald McDonald House can now host more families whilst their children are receiving world renown care in Louisville.

3

Congratulations Victoria Russell for being named a “Daughter of Greatness” by the Muhammad Ali Center! Your story is inspiring and the life lessons you shared instilled hope in our hearts.

4

Victoria’s identical twin sister came to town from Chicago for the celebration. Councilwoman Sexton Smith and Ms. Elmer Lucille Allen joined the fun as previous “Daughters of Greatness.”

5

Victoria talked about the importance of bringing your whole self to whatever you do everyday. At one point in her career she worked as a server in the hospitality industry during the evening whilst working a full time day job - she never meets a stranger.

6

Former baseball player turned artist - Richard Sullivan unveiled the original watercolor artwork for the official 2020 Woodford Reserve bottle. Stop by Louisville Stoneware in Metro District 4 to see it up close.

7

Messer Construction turned the keys over to the owners of LouCity and the Lynn Family Stadium and Coach Hackworth called it the “Cathedral of all Stadiums!”

8

Thank you Mark and Cindy Lynn and Vincenzo for your leadership and belief in our community. You live your values everyday for all of us to see.

Councilwoman took a tour and discovered the fabulous locker rooms and training facility for our team - soon to be two teams when the women get here in 2021!
