 The Honoree for the District 13 Black History Month, Mr. Geoffrey James receives a proclamation and award from Councilman Mark Fox at the February 20 celebration held in Chambers at City Hall.
Mr. James is a dedicated a math teacher, school counselor, and football /track coach at Fairdale High School for the past 10 years devoting his time/talents to establishing mentor programs to inspire and encourage students; tutors’ high school /elementary students; volunteers at Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and is a proud member of his beloved Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, serving as past social chair, initiating philanthropy efforts for various charities including, Relay for Life, BIAK Brain Walk and Strides Against Breast Cancer; organizing community cleanups; and member of the scholarship committee.
Mr. James a native of Phenix City, Alabama, is a graduate of Campbellsville University, the University of the Cumberlands and the University of Louisville. He is also an avid golfer, who played the renowned Valhalla Golf Club for the first time in 2019 and that same year while playing at the Blue Sky Golf Club in Jacksonville, FLA, shot his lowest score ever, an 83.
Mr. James was recently married to his beautiful, talented wife, Chante’ James, and they will celebrate their first Wedding Anniversary on March 29, 2020. |
