Viewing the Documentary 'Black in Blue'

bhm tour

We celebrated Black History Month at Metro Council with Seniors from The Brown School viewing a recently released documentary called Black in Blue that tells the story of how in 1967 The University of Kentucky was the first school to allow African American Athletes to play football in the SEC. We were honored to be joined by some of the players, Nate Northington, Phil Thompson and Paul Karem. Wilbur Hackett’s son Keith was also able to join us. The students were able to view the film and actually ask questions of the players on the team from 1967, it was a great morning! Thank you to Councilwoman Shanklin for hosting this event.

Louisville Metro Black History Month

We had an awesome time at our annual Louisville Metro City Council Black History Month Program and I had the honor and privilege to honor Marie Clay a remarkable resident of District Six.
