A Message from Councilwoman Nicole George:

Happy holiday's District 21! I wish you a safe and happy holiday season. I am proud of the work that our office and our volunteers have accomplished this year. I am looking forward to continuing to serve you in this role. If you have any questions or concerns in your neighborhood or on your block, please give our office a call. We are happy to hear from you!

The "Image of the Issue" is this month of Small Business Saturday that took place on November 30th at Colonial Gardens and was sponsored by South LIBA. We had a number of local venders, crafters, and makers there to sell holiday items. We are proud to support our local, small businesses! This holiday season, keep in mind that on average two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at small businesses in the U.S. stays in the local community. Happy holidays!

In gratitude,

Nicole

Holiday Safety Tips

tips

3 Tips from Councilwoman George

  1. Don’t leave mail and packages unattended for any length of time
  2. Breakdown boxes before putting them out on the curb to avoid theft of new holiday gifts inside your home
  3. Lock your car doors

Check out this song on Facebook from the Lexington, KY Police Department. Here are the lyrics.

My Stolen Things: A Lexington Police Department Sing-along

Original song: "My Favorite Things" from Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music

Cash in my wallet and credit cards, too,

My Driver’s license and change that was loose,

A leather purse hidden under my seat,

These are a few of my stolen things.

Cell phones and laptops and iPads and Kindles,

Expensive camera and a box of tools,

Shiny gold jewelry like my wedding ring,

These are a few of my stolen things.

Rifles and handguns and sharp pointy knives,

Clothing and shoes and glasses for my eyes,

Musical instruments, my guitar strings,

These are a few of my stolen things.

If the thieves come, checking handles, in my neighborhood,

I simply remember my stolen things,

And to always lock my doors!
