Bud dreamed of being a photographer from an early age and much of his work is chronicled in the world famous Louisville Story Program Book “Available Light” focused on West Louisville.

The life and legacy of Mary Craik was celebrated recently after her passing. Mary lived 95 amazing years bringing forth her knowledge and guidance advocating for women’s equal seat at the table and promoting educational opportunities for women through art and scholarship. NuLu is better today because Mary chose to buy her final home and studio in its neighborhood.

Emily and many others joined together at the Mayan Cafe to share one last Hersey Bar and pick up a post card featuring one of Mary Craik’s most famous paintings - “The Last Lunch.” Mary’s secret to longevity may have been eating a Hersey Bar for breakfast each morning!

Community came together to identify illegal dumper

swms

SWMS Enforcement has located and impounded its 14th vehicle this year for illegal dumping. SWMS Enforcement was contacted by a citizen that captured someone illegally dumping couches in an alley in District 4. The footage was of high quality, but the license plate was not visible. SWMS Enforcement posted images of the video on Facebook and the Nextdoor app asking for assistance with identifying the individual. SWMS Enforcement team was able to locate the vehicle today in the 2300 block of Payne St.

In total, the illegal dumper received a citation with fines and fees totaling $750. Also, they will have to pay approximately $250 for impound and storage fees.

We’re all in this together – help us out when you can.

December 17 - Synergy Project Action Sessions

synergy Project

The Synergy Project, a year-long effort, provides an inclusive process to achieve an overarching purpose designed to: Further strengthen relationships between residents and police by respecting two important societal values: Public Safety (the combination of effective policing and government services and resident involvement that creates a safe, secure, and livable city) and Public Trust (A deep belief that police officers, those in government services, and residents will treat each other with fairness, equity, dignity, and respect; and will act in the interest of one another’s and the collective wellbeing). Healthy, thriving communities need to achieve success in both of these areas. Headlines across our nation are filled with examples where communities struggle and become reactive. The Synergy Project is designed to engage a broad cross-section of residents. The goal is to ensure differing voices are heard and perspectives explored for the development of strategies to achieve a safer community where both police officers and residents feel respected and valued.
