Synergy Project Action Session

The Synergy Project has been created to strengthen relationships between Louisville Metro Police and residents to increase collaboration grounded in trust and legitimacy. By bringing together people from all parts of the community – residents, academia, business, youth, faith-based organizations, law enforcement, and political leaders – this project creates an opportunity for police and community to work together in a safe, open, and respectful environment to identify root causes of distrust and find actionable solutions to move us forward.
Action sessions are guided conversations involving residents and police aimed at generating ideas on how we can strengthen our relationships.
14th Illegal Dumping Impound of 2019
The Metro Solid Waste Enforcement team located and impounded its 14th vehicle this year for illegal dumping. A resident of District 4 reported that couches were dumped in their alley and submitted video footage captured by their security camera. The video was of high quality, but the license plate was not visible. A still image was posted on the Public Works Facebook and Nextdoor page asking for assistance identifying the individual. The power of social media worked again! On Friday, December 6 the Enforcement team located the vehicle in the 2300 block of Payne Street. In total, the illegal dumper received a citation with fines and fees totaling $750. Also, they will have to pay approximately $250 for impound and storage fees.

And remember, up to 3 large household items can be dropped off for free at the Waste Reduction Center.

Seasonal Christmas tree drop-off will also include leaves this year. Starting December 26, drop-off sites will be available for all Louisville/Jefferson County residents at four locations. The Hubbards Lane site will also instantly recycle Christmas trees in to mulch that will be offered back to citizens for home use. Those wishing to receive mulch must bring an appropriate container in which to carry it. All lights and ornaments should be removed from trees before they are set out or dropped off. Residents may also drop off loose leaves. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be disposed of off-site by residents.

Metro Public Works will also provide curbside pickup of Christmas trees within the Urban Services District (the old City of Louisville boundaries) after the holiday. Beginning Wednesday, December 26, residents with City curbside yard waste pickup may set their Christmas trees and greenery out on their regular collection day. Trees must not be in plastic bags, and all decorations must be removed. Residents normally serviced by private waste haulers should check with those companies to see whether and when tree pickup is available.

Federally Enforceable District Origin Operating Permit (FEDOOP)
The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit to Sealed Air (polyethylene foam manufacturing facility), 7665 National Turnpike, Louisville, KY 40214 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This permit is being issued to renew the FEDOOP operating permit. The 30-day public comment period starts on December 10, 2019, and ends on January 9, 2020. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
Drafts of the permit and summary are available at the District office, 701 West Ormsby Avenue, Suite 303, Louisville between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, by calling Matt King at (502) 574-6000 or emailing airpermits@louisvilleky.gov or at the following website: http://www.louisvilleky.gov/APCD/docket. Copies of the application are available upon request. Written comments will be accepted at airpermits@louisvilleky.gov until midnight or at the District office until 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2020.

Theft from Automobile - There were a total of seven thefts from autos, which was a decrease from the previous week (13). In one of the thefts force was used, four were unlocked and two were by unknown means. Please remember to lock your vehicles and take your valuables out of your car.
Auto Theft - There was one reported auto theft for the week which was a decrease from the previous week (7). The one was by unknown means.
Burglary - There was one reported burglary this reporting period which was a decrease from the previous week (4). The one burglary was by unknown means and was residential.
There were no reported Robberies for the reporting period.
