October 10 Metro Council Meeting

The Louisville Metro Council had its first October meeting last week. A summary of the meeting is below:

Planning & Zoning - the Council approved the rezoning of property located in districts 22, 24, and one located in districts 23 and 24.

Surplus Streets - a resolution was passed determining eight streets near the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center as surplus and transferring those streets to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Rumpelstiltskin - an ordinance was approved appropriating funds to Commonwealth Theatre Center to support performances of Rumpelstiltskin at schools throughout Jefferson County. These schools included Malcolm Chancey Elementary, Zachary Taylor Elementary, and Anchorage Public Schools.

Metro Golf Courses - the Council passed an ordinance amending chapter 42 of the Louisville Metro Code of Ordinances in an effort to enhance the long-term viability of Metro-owned golf courses. Changes include an increase in annual pass fees for adults (but a reduction in annual pass fees for juniors), a $5 increase in green fees, allowing golf professionals to use dynamic pricing, and a requirement that golf fees be reinvested in course facilities.

As a reminder, you can view the agendas for or watch any committee or Metro Council meeting here.

Recent Automobile Thefts/Break-ins

We are aware of the recent spike in automobile thefts/break-ins along the Brownsboro Road corridor east of Chamberlain Lane and have been working closely with the 8th Division to address the issue. Effective Wednesday night, LMPD increased the amount of marked patrols in the impacted areas. As a reminder, we can be part of the solution by locking our vehicles, taking valuables inside, keeping garage doors closed, etc.

Should you need to report a crime or speak to an officer, the most efficient way (for non-emergencies) is to call Metrosafe Dispatch at 574-2111. If the efforts of the officer are not adequate in addressing the concern or issue, citizens can call Metrosafe again and request to speak to an LMPD supervisor.

WHERE: Kentucky Exposition Center (Lot W), 1030 Phillips Lane

Proposed Rezoning - 4308 Rollington Road

PandZ

This proposal is for 94 buildable lots, 84 of which would be in Jefferson County. A Detailed District Development Plan (DDDP) is the plan showing how the developer proposes to use the land.

Revised Detailed District Development Plan - 2600 Chamberlain Lane

Chamberlain

This request is for a Revised Detailed District Development Plan which is similar to a DDDP, but comes after a rezoning has already been approved and the owner wants to change something about the initial plan. The change could be something minor like a tweak to the building footprint or a completely different proposed use. This proposal would create about 25,000 square feet of retail space.
