Have you ever noticed the red bike hanging above the Spalding University entrance at 824 S. 4th Street? It's a reminder to all that this is where young Cassius Clay learned to box after he experienced his "Red Bike Moment." Someone stole his new red bike when he was 12 years olf and all he wanted to do was find the thief and whoop him! Officer Joe Martin took the police report and then told Cassius to meet him at the gym inside the next day to work on his fighting technique. The rest is history!

Calvary Episcopal Church on South Fourth Street provides immigrant families and many others with food, clothing, and various services.
300 peanut butter sandwiches, cookies, popcorn, water, and flowers are delivered weekly to those experiencing homelessness in our city.
This is "power in the parking lot." When we work together to provide for those in need, we empower others to meet their full human potential.

Art in City Hall was celebrated recently with the second installation of original artworks by regional artists.
Many thanks to Christen Boone and JP Davis at the Fund for the Arts along with Ms. Elmer Lucille Allen for their unwavering support of art in Louisville!
School children created this portrait of Rosa Parks by cutting various colors of paper into small pieces and placing them together under the direction of William Duffy.
William Duffy created the beautiful piece using the technique known as pointillism. His subject was an early 1900s photos from Reader's Digest.

The first annual Imagine Mural Festival was a huge success in Smoketown. Kacy Jackson and Braylyn Stewart are two of the many artists who painted 18 new murals.
Hannah Drake took the stage and delivered her spoken word art to the shear delight of everyone in Smoketown.
The students at STEAM Exchange created a beautiful mural with self portraits on the MSD Basin wall.

More than 100 cities across our country celebrated Indigenous People's Day as a remembrance of indigenous people of who occupied these lands since time immemorial, and an acknowledgement that communities throughout the land are built on homelands of indigenous people - those who were here first.

Registered voters in Jefferson County who will be absent from Jefferson County on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 can vote their ballot early at Election Center, 701 West Ormsby Avenue, Room 301 (near 7th and Oak Streets).
Other people who can vote early include: a woman in her last trimester of pregnancy, a person or their spouse who is scheduled to have surgery on Election Day and those people because of age, illness or disability are not able to go to the polls.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is once again taking applications for seasonal high tunnels (hoop houses) that work towards extending the growing season for gardeners and vegetable producers. These metal-framed plastic-covered growing areas allow producers to plant early - like February - and extend their growing seasons well into winter. Applications taken now are for the 2020 growing season.
If you had a high tunnel crop in place in February, you are probably already eating freshly grown fruits and vegetables and worked through the cool rainy season in the comfort of the “indoors”. To report a new issue, follow these steps:

- For City, type in Louisville and select “Louisville Jefferson County Metro Government”
- Program developers suggest you now “sign up” for an account in top right corner. This will allow the system to track all requests. You can also choose not to sign up, which will let you make service requests anonymously.
- To report an issue, select the issue or type something into the search box. Then select issue.
- Next fill out the series of questions. You can enter an actual address or drag and drop the pin on the map to the location.Please be sure to check the address to ensure it’s a valid address.
- Include all details in the description and click submit.
