The 9th vehicle impounded in 2019 for illegal dumping.
Our Metro Solid Waste Enforcement team located and impounded its 9th vehicle this year for illegal dumping. The SUV was witnessed on surveillance cameras being used to dump a mattress and box spring in District 1 on July 2. The location may look familiar – the offender dumped the debris in the same location as the 7th and 8th impoundment of the year. Enforcement officers were able to track down the vehicle in the 3700 block of W Kentucky.
In total, the illegal dumper received a citation with a fine of $500 and approximately $250 for impound and storage fees. The fines, fees, and vehicle impoundment could have easily been avoided by taking the items to the Waste Reduction Center, 636 Meriwether Avenue where citizens can dispose up to 3 large household items daily for free.
