Message From McCraney

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”  - Mahatma Gandhi

I have truly found myself. What I mean is, I have discovered what makes me, me. Here’s what I know about myself. I genuinely like to help people. I have compassion for people who are less fortunate than me. I care about my community, my neighbors, and the quality of life we all live.

With characteristics like these, there’s no wonder why I entered into politics. As a public servant, I can work daily on things that shape who I am and focus my attention on what the residents of District 7 communicate to me as their most pressing needs.

Since being sworn in on January 7, I have acted on the best interest of the people of District 7 and the community at large. I have challenged my own ideas and biases, I’ve challenged the status quo, and from time to time, I have challenged my colleagues at City Hall to collaborate and lead with conviction.

Here now is a partial list of my accomplishments to date.

  1. Hosted two budget town hall forums; attended four town hall forums in other districts
  2. Participated in two Café Louie Meet Your Legislator forums
  3. Created a survey and issued the results on District 7 residents budget input
  4. Attended two home-rule Council meetings
  5. Spoke during one HOA meeting
  6. Coordinated and attended community meetings with MSD regarding drainage issues for the following cities: Crossgate, Riverwood, Woodlawn Park, Graymoor-Devondale; and Sycamore Creek
  7. Attended two Louisville Free Public Library grand openings
  8. Participated in St. Matthews Police Department ride-along
  9. Spoke to students at Kennedy Montessori School
  10. Read books to students at Hartstern Elementary School
  11. Attended Lyndon Summer Festival
  12. Hosted constituents at a Louisville Bats baseball game
  13. Produced 27 e-Newsletters
  14. Hosted 10 home-rule mayors for lunch (personal expense)
  15. Hosted and partially attended Cox Park Shakespeare in the Park
  16. Attended St. Matthews Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and a Monthly meeting
  17. Attended St. Matthews Woman’s Club meetings
  18. Oversaw the completion of Ormsby Lane sidewalk project
  19. Met monthly since January with LMPD, 5th Division
  20. Served as panelist for Louisville Independent Business Alliance monthly membership meeting
  21. Hosted a Mingle with McCraney Neighborhood Meeting, accompanied by MSD, LMPD, and Louisville Metro Emergency Services
  22. Replied to over 1,200 emails
  23. Attended numerous press conferences, public zoning meetings and dedications
  24. Met with Public Works Department about the possibility of a traffic light on Herr Lane near Ballard High School
  25. In conversations with Louisville Metro Division of Transportation and Public Works Departments regarding a road improvement project from Lyndon Ln. to Whipps Mill Rd. (sidewalk and other pedestrian improvements)
