Newburg Library On the third Tuesday of each month, a Community Meeting is held to give residents an opportunity to be informed, discuss ideas and share. Be part of the change we want to see for our community. Join us at the new meeting time, 6:30PM when we meet with LMPD and 7PM to share with Councilwoman Dr. Barbara Shanklin.

Newburg Community Center's Kids Cafe 
Dare to Care Food Bank is proud to partner with local, non-profit after-school programs to offer free evening meals to children in our community through our Kids Cafe program. Children (18 and under) receive a warm, nutritious meal in a safe environment.  In addition to receiving a meal, each child has the opportunity to participate in academic and extracurricular activities.  Serving times are Mon - Fri, 4:30pm - 5:30pm.
 *Note: If JCPS is closed due to inclement weather, hot meals will not be served.

LFPL Celebrates African American History Month

Black Jeopardy- Newburg Library, Monday, Feb. 11 at 3p.m. (for teens)

Black Superhero Showcase- Portland Library, Feb. 16 at 1:30p.m. (kids 5 and up)

African American History Film Series- Main Library, Sundays in February, 2p.m.

This February, the Main Library will host the African American Film Series in collaboration with the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Showings take place every Sunday starting at 2 p.m. This year will feature The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, (Feb. 3, Rated TV-MA), Moonlight (Feb. 10, Rated R), Black Panther (Feb. 17, Rated PG-13), and 13th (Feb. 24, Rated TV-MA). All shows are free and will be followed by a panel discussion with UofL faculty, representatives of community organizations, and members of the public. Discussion topics will range from prominent issues raised by the films including medical ethics, voting rights, the African American LGBT+ community, and more. TARC has replaced their old fare box system with the new MyTARC tap and go fare cards. The change officially started on Monday and TARC riders will need to get their new tap cards ASAP! VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, will open Jan. 22 to provide free tax preparation for eligible residents.

  • To qualify, household income must be under $64,000
  • Eight sites across Louisville
