Drug Toss Event Tomorrow!

The drug toss event is hosted by the officers of the Louisville Metro Police 7th Division. It is a safe, fast way to dispose unused medications. These events are designed to prevent unintentional and accidental poisoning and potential fatal overdoses. Just drive up and hand the medication to an officer, then be on your way.


Metro Leaf Drop-Off Dates Extended

Leaves

Louisville Metro leaf drop-off service, originally scheduled to end December 1, has been extended three weeks.  Metro residents not mulching autumn leaves into their lawns or using curbside collection have the option to dispose of them at one of three drop-off sites through December 22. Only loose leaves will be accepted. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be disposed of off-site by residents. For further information go to "www.louisvilleky.gov"


Last Week for LIHEAP

The LIHEAP Subsidy Component runs through Dec. 14, 2018, or until funding is depleted, whichever comes first. To apply residents must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. The appointment system is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. LWC Eastern Parkway Project

Louisville Water Company

LWC is working on S. Third Street between Eastern Parkway and Winkler. The work will continue through the first of the year.  Both southbound  lanes remain closed. In addition to this work, LWC is working on the north side of Eastern Parkway across from Hahn Street and near I-65.  At least one westbound lane will remain open and eastbound lanes of traffic will not be impacted. JCPS Student Assignment Plan Public Survey

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) opened a survey to gather input from parents, students and community members as the district reviews and considers changes to its student assignment plan. The survey runs through Friday, Dec. 21. The district reviews its student assignment plan every five to seven years and makes changes as necessary. The survey is available here. In addition, students, parents and community members will be selected at random to complete the survey, making sure to include respondents from specific groups and organizations to ensure an accurate report.


YMCA Safe Place "Together 4 Teen Tour"

Wednesday, December 12th Noon to 1 P.M. YMCA Safe Place Building, 2400 Crittenden Drive YMCA Safe Place is holding a "Together 4 Teen Tour". This tour showcases our community's only 24-hour shelter for homeless & runaway teens and other programs focused on young people in crisis! A lite lunch will be provided.


Yard Waste Suspension Dates

Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management is suspending yard waste collection January 19 through March 11, 2019. Individuals can request collection as needed during this period through MetroCall at 574-5000.


Help the Homeless!

As the weather gets colder it is dangerous for those who are homeless. There are many outreach organizations who are checking on homeless individuals and distributing needed supplies. If you can, please consider donating the following items:  Coats - Socks - Hats - Blankets

Check out the Coalition for the Homeless’ website to see some of the member agencies that are working to provide these supplies to those who need it most.

Discounted Recycle Carts Available

Councilwoman Butler is participating in the discounted recycle cart program with Solid Waste. District 15 residents benefit! The 95-gallon and 65-gallon recycling carts are available for District 15 residents for only $25 -- this is a 50% discount.
