Thanks to all veterans

Veterans Day

“Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude.”

                                              - Harry S. Truman

Bonnie Koestel named Schnitzelburg #1 Citizen at the 53rd annual dinner

Congratulations to Bonnie Koestel, Schnitzelburg's #1 Citizen for 2018! Koestel, a longtime volunteer, was honored last night for her outstanding service to the community.

Koestel's nomination described her as "a volunteer that all organizations would cherish." For the MUSCL Senior Center, she cooks, organizes pot luck lunches, teaches crafting, calls Bingo, and more.

She helps with flower arrangements for St. Elizabeth's Church, makes lunches for St. Ann's Society meetings, as well as volunteering for the Pegasus Parade. At Camp Crooked Creek, Koestel teaches crafts to boy and girl scouts.

Councilman Mulvihill had to attend the Louisville Metro Council meeting and was disappointed he could not attend to fete Bonnie for her great stewardship and work on behalf of others. Geoff Wohl, D10 Legislative Assistant, was on hand to deliver a proclamation from Metro Council and CM Mulvihill honoring Bonnie and her good work.

Koestel w Younger

Above, newly elected Jefferson County PVA, Colleen Younger, by her own description, “a Germantown girl”, congratulated Bonnie (at left) on her recognition and accomplishments. As it turns out, Colleen just purchased a home on the same street as Bonnie, so they are neighbors.

Bolton and Koestel and Underwood

Above, Ron Bolton, President of the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council (SACC) and Kara Underwood, Vice President of SACC, present the traditional Louisville Slugger bat and personalized #1 Citizen jacket to Koestel.

#1 Citizen Dinner

The Dinner attracts many local elected officials and dignitaries, as seen above, enjoying the traditional German-style dinner. Klaus Riedelscheimer of the Schnitzelburg Farmers Market catered the event.

Congratulations, Bonnie!
