The incentive is available for flat or low-sloped roofs on residential and commercial buildings. Rebates are first come, first served. Read more about the program and apply.

Tree Rebate

Shade Tree Rebates

Purchase a shade* tree and receive 40% off the purchase price up to $80. TreesLouisville is partnering with the Louisville Metro Division of Community Forestry. The program is open to all residents of Jefferson County.

*Shade trees are generally medium to large sized trees that have spreading canopies (e.g., oak, maple, linden, elm), though smaller species like redbuds and serviceberries also fall under this category. Dwarf ornamental varieties will not be eligible. If you have questions about whether your tree is eligible for a rebate, email info@treeslouisville.org.

Funding is first come, first served. Read more about how to participate.

New EV Charging Station in Seneca Park

EV station in Seneca Park

Drivers of electric vehicles in Louisville now have another place to “fill up” their batteries with the installation of a new public charging station at Seneca Park through Louisville Gas and Electric Company’s EV Charging Station Program.

Seneca Park was chosen using data collected by Drive Clean Louisville, a Metro Government initiative that promotes the benefits of alternative fuel vehicles. A survey asked the public to identify places in Louisville in need of vehicle chargers, and Seneca Park was among the top spots named.

IPCC Special Report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a special report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5ºC, in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development and efforts to eradicate poverty.

One of the key messages from the report is that we are already seeing the consequences of 1°C of global warming through extreme weather events, rising sea levels and diminishing Arctic sea ice. Limiting global warming to 1.5°C would require unprecedented transitions in land, energy, industry, buildings, transport and cities. “Every extra bit of warming matters, especially since warming of 1.5ºC or higher increases the risk associated with long-lasting or irreversible changes.” Limiting global warming 1.5ºC would give people and ecosystems more room to adapt and remain below relevant risk thresholds.

For a summary of the report, click here.
