If you like the concept
of Our Money, Our Voice – our participatory budgeting experiment to let
taxpayers make capital infrastructure spending decisions for themselves – but
you can’t make it to any of our idea collection events, then this is the moment you’ve been waiting
for. Submit your ideas online here for
how to spend $75,000 - $100,000 in your neighborhood or anywhere in District 8, and one or more
ideas will be selected by District 8 residents and scheduled and funded for
completion by the end of the fiscal year. It’s that easy.
It’s that easy for you, at least. For the project team, it’s a whole other
story, which is why I invited Center for Health Equity Manager Aja Barber and Community Outreach Coordinator Monica Leslie onto Eight More Miles: the District
8 Podcast to
tell us about it. The episode is a must
listen if you plan to compete for the project funding – or if you genuinely
care about grassroots democracy – and a should listen (like the entire Eight More
Miles catalog!) for the pure educational and entertainment value alone.
Happy listening, and look for our Idea
Collection Pop-Up at the Belknap Fall Festival October 12th and the Tom Owen
CycLOUvia October 21st. If the spirit
moves you, we’ll be at the Highlands Shelby Park Library tonight (October 10th),
6:00 – 8:00pm. For more information, please
visit the project website. Thanks for participating.
