A Twist on Back to School

The Old Jacob School in the Jacobs Neighborhood on Wheeler Avenue is open once again.  Thanks to the partnership of ByWater Development, PNC and Republic Banks, Kentucky Housing Corporation, Kentucky Historical Tax Credits and CDBG monies the Old Jacob School is already home to 31 seniors!  There are still apartments for let and final touches are ongoing in some areas of the school.  These apartments are self contained with a full kitchen, a washer and dryer in-unit, living space, bedroom, lots of storage and ample community space for gatherings.  This multi-million dollar project is a jewel in the community and a catalyst for change in the surrounding neighborhood.  For information on the apartments, call Beacon Properties at 502-634-9830. Councilwoman Butler is pictured at the press conference with Mayor Fischer in front of the school.

National Night Out excels again

Many residents came out to join Louisville Metro Police on National Night Out to interact and get to know one another.  Children were learning about the many different departments within the police department as well as handling the various equipment they use on a daily basis.  Officers were shooting baskets on the court with the older children and a few showed their skills on the Pickle Ball Courts.
Councilwoman Butler is pictured with Councilman Mulvihill on the Pickle Ball Courts with numerous players enjoying the new courts.
Many thanks to all who participated in the evening and worked so diligently to make it successful.

Cool Roof Rebate Program

Publication1

Will you soon be replacing your roof? The Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability has funds available in its Cool Roof Rebate Program available for residents or commercial property owners in Metro Council Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 14 and 15. The program offers up to $2,000 for residents and up to $5,000 or $10,000 (depending on the slope of the roof) for commercial property owners to replace their roofs with cool roofs. Cool roofs are made with reflective materials and lighter colored roofs that reflect sunlight and heat away from a building, reducing roof temperatures and utilities costs. These cool roofs, on both residential and commercial buildings, absorb less heat and stay up to 50–60°F cooler than conventional materials during peak summer weather. Stay cool and save money today with a cool roof with help from our rebate program! For more information and to find the program application, please visit https://louisvilleky.gov/government/sustainability/incentives#1 or call the Office of Sustainability at 502-574-1976.

Yard Waste Reminder!

Louisville Metro Seal

When setting out your yard waste, please remember to use reusable containers, paper yard waste bags or approved biodegradable bags.  All yard waste should fit within the container(s) and easily allow the collector to dump the container(s) in the truck.  Should you have larger items, please cut in lengths no longer than 4 feet and place in small bundles held together with twine, in which the collector can easily grab and throw into the truck. Thank you for following the parameters of the yard waste program and helping to compost as much material as possible!
