From June 11 through August 3, Louisville Parks and Recreation is offering summer camps at six of its twelve community centers. Registration is now available for all Community Center camp locations. Camps run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (early bird drop-off hours are available at some locations; please contact site for more details). This year’s camp theme, “Amazing Adventures”, reflects an array of daily on-site programs focusing on fitness, the arts, the environment and education. Camp programs are designed for all children in the community between the ages of 6-12.
Featured activities include: Youth Health Initiative Program; Reds Rookie Success League; weekly field trips, special programs and daily on-site activities.

TreesLouisville
is currently hosting a tree rebate. Those who purchase a
shade tree can receive up to 40% off the purchase price. This is an
initiative between TreesLouisville and Louisville Metro Division of Community
Forestry to grow our tree canopy.
Eligibility
requirements include:
- Tree must be considered a shade tree
- Tree must be planted in a residential yard
- Program open to Jefferson County, KY residents only
- Max 3 submissions per household
- Tree must measure at least 1in in diameter at a point 6in above soil line
- Rebates are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis while funds are available
- Rebate is only eligible for purchase price of tree (i.e. excludes tax, planting or delivery fees, etc.)

Camp Africa Summer
Program
2018 Camp Africa Summer Academic &
Cultural Enrichment Program June 4 –
July 20, 2018, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Catholic Enrichment Center is
located at 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211. This seven-week program is
for youth grades one through eight. It will offer cultural and academic enrichment
opportunities in the areas of math, reading, writing skills, science, and more,
along with a cultural arts experience from an africentric perspective. The cost
of the camp is $350.00 per child for the seven-week experience. There is a
$50.00 non-refundable registration fee per child upon filling out an
application. The
$300 balance may be paid in two installments: at least $150.00 is due by
the first day of camp on June 4, 2018 with any remaining balance due
by June 25, 2018. A payment scale is
available for families with multiple children in the household. Breakfast, lunch,
and a snack are included along with great field trips and other enriching
experiences. Applications are currently being accepted and space is limited. For

Male Ministry
Fashion Exposition on Friday, June 15,
2018, 7:00 p.m. in the Catholic
Enrichment Center’s Thea Bowman Hall, 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211.
This adult event is an all male fashion exposition and is an implementation of the Male Ministry
Initiative of the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Strategic Plan. The
evening will provide a showcase of the latest in men’s fashion and accessories
modeled by men in the local faith community. It will also include music, entertainment,
heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and more. The dress is semi-formal or business attire and the
cost is $20.00 per person. This is a major fundraiser for the Catholic

Education Seminars on Thursday,
May 24 & Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at
5:00 p.m. The Catholic
Enrichment Center is located at 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211. The
seminars will be conducted by Mr. Raoul Cunningham, President of the Louisville
Branch NAACP. If you are interested in learning about your voting rights,
learning more about the political process, becoming more familiar with the
voting process, becoming familiar with the upcoming election candidates, these

The Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle is a twice annual event held every Memorial & Labor Day. This years event will take place on May 28th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thousands of participants flock to Waterfront Park to enjoy a morning full of fun. Bring the entire family for this free, healthy community event. Various fitness demonstrations start the day including yoga, tai chi and zumba. There are numerous vendor booths available for information and giveaways. After all of that, take your pick from a 5k hike, 12.5-mile bike ride or a paddle on the Ohio River. This event is not a race. It is open to participants of all levels and we encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the festivities!
