Walking into Dixie Highway's newest restaurant is like entering a scene from "Dazed and Confused."
With glittering paint on its bar and vinyl upholstery lining its booths, the diner gives its best take on the lowriding lifestyle, which co-owner "Gorilla" Bob Raymer said has a rich history on the south Louisville strip.
But before we get into too much detail — here's what you need to know about Highway 31 Diner and Dive.
On Monday, Raymer and business partner Willow Rouben began dishing up burgers and other homecooked meals at the former Spinelli's Pizzeria, 8610 Dixie Highway.

The restaurant is now open seven days a week, with breakfast served on weekends and dinner served for the late shift crowd.

Regular yard waste
collection in the Urban Services District of Louisville is on seasonal shutdown
until March 12. But you may request a special pickup if the stuff is piling up
in the interim.
Just call MetroCall at 311 or 574-5000.
Those calls will
be handled on an as needed basis rather than running crews full-time on routes
across the city at a time when volumes are generally very low.

Tickets are only $35 apiece, the best buy in Louisville for dining, bidding, and listening that takes us back to the good ole’ days. Call 935-0310, or stop by 8504 Terry Road and pick up your tickets. Last year Southwest Communities netted over $50,000 to help our local neighbors in need.
People who live and
work along Dixie Highway can learn more about the New Dixie Highway Project at
a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Shively Community
Center, 1901 Park Road.
Those attending will learn more about the design of the new Bus Rapid Transit
system, as well as how U-turns will be effectively and safely handled. U-turns
will become a necessary part of driving once medians are placed along much of
Dixie Highway.
The event will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a come-and-go Open
House style event that is designed so that people can drop in, as convenient,
during that window. You do not have to be there precisely at 4 p.m. to
learn about the project.
One
of the most common questions we get is about whether we will have fewer lanes
with the New Dixie Highway.
NO!
- While there will be temporary lane closures during the construction process,
there will be no permanent reduction in the number of lanes.
- Medians have been designed at different widths depending on space availability,
so that the lane number can be maintained.
- Furthermore, all lanes will be open
to all traffic. (For example, there will not be a dedicated bus lane.)
1. What is the current schedule and completion date?
- The new completion date for the project is May 15, 2018.
2. Whom is responsible for overseeing the Dixie Highway Paving Project?
- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the State Government's agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways is charged with overseeing the construction of the Dixie Paving Project.
3. Whom is the contractor charged with the infrastructure repair and repaving of Dixie Highway?
- Hall Contracting of Kentucky, Inc. was awarded this contract in the amount of $14.5 million from the State.
4. Will the contractor be penalized for not completing all work by the completion date?
- If the project continues beyond the May 15, 2018 deadline the contractor will be assessed a fine of $25,000 per day.
5. Who can we contact if we have concerns?

Kentucky. You can also get traffic information for the District 5
counties at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5
