Community Meeting on William Harrison Park

President David A. James

On Saturday 20 January, five children were tragically injured at William Harrison Park when a drunk driver lost control and hit a playground. Along with the Taylor-Berry neighborhood and Louisville as a whole, we're grateful that these five children are still alive, but horrified that they were ever in such danger and saddened by the property damage to the playground at William Harrison.

Yesterday, Councilwoman Woolridge, President James, and (other CM) held a community meeting with people from across the neighborhood, listening to their proposals to make William Harrison safe again. We're backing a $12,000 appropriation to install new speed humps at the site, to make sure no such tragedy can happen again. However, we need your help to make this happen. The Taylor-Berry Neighborhood Association is spearheading a petition for new speed humps, which needs the support of 70% of residents to pass. If you live in the neighborhood, please sign this petition as soon as possible.

We're grateful for the generosity of the Johnson family, who gave $4000 to restore the William Harrison playground in response to this accident. Their kindness, coming from a deep and abiding faith, will provide joy and wonder for Louisville's children over the decades to come.
