In March, interior and exterior construction improvements to the Nia
Center (2900 W. Broadway) began, including major renovations to the shelter area and improvements to pedestrian access. That construction has now been completed, and the Nia Center has reopened yesterday.
The Nia Center is home to
several offices offering assistance to individuals and business owners
who want to increase educational and job opportunities.
KentuckianaWorks’ Career Center assists with job training and placement,
and Louisville Forward’s business clinic connects clients seeking to
start or grow a business with resources to build a business or financial plan, receive business mentoring and counseling, or seek financial assistance. The Department of Resilience and
Community Services’ Financial Empowerment division moved into the Nia
Center in September 2016, including Bank On Louisville and
micro-business support. Sweet Peaches 2 Roll, a new café, opened in
September 2017, providing west Louisville with another
neighborhood-serving amenity and gathering space.
Bus routes #19, #21, #23 (after 7 p.m. ONLY), & #25 will return to
the regular route through the Nia Center (see maps below). Signage with
corresponding routes will also be posted at surrounding stops,
redirecting passengers to the rear of the building.

Last year, almost thirteen thousand people were ticketed for not moving
their cars during street sweeping. Now MyLouisville is offering text
alerts for street sweeping, so you don't have to be one of them. Once
you sign up, you'll be notified of street sweeping both a week and a day
in advance. To subscribe to these alerts, just enter your address into MyLouisville, and click the 'Street Sweeping Reminders' link once it lists options for your home. |
