Pre-registration opportunities for the LIHEAP Subsidy Phase (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) will be offered during October for Jefferson County residents within 130% of the federal poverty guidelines who are elderly (age 60 or over) or disabled receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits. In partnership with the Division of Community Forestry and MSD, the Louisville Nature Center will be giving away trees, just in time for the best time to plant them. Please call 458-1328 to order your trees Monday – Friday between 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
You will need to come into the Louisville Nature Center, 3745 Illinois Avenue, prior to Wednesday, November 8, to sign and show proof of your Jefferson County residency. They will also need to know what Metro Council District you live in. MSD will be delivering the trees to your home November 14-16.
There is a five tree limit per residence. Trees will come in 3 gallon pots and average 3-5 feet tall. You must agree to care and maintain the tree for its first three years.
Donations for delivery are appreciated and for any donations over $10.00 you will receive a free tree watering bag, a $25.00 value.

Seneca Park Beautification Tuesdays: 9am - 12pm
Show your Seneca Park Pride and help make a difference by volunteering with the Olmsted Parks Conservancy! Tasks may include weeding, mulching, painting and general park beautification. Gloves, guidance and tools provided. Dress for the weather and getting dirty! Long pants with tennis shoes or old boots are recommended- no sandals please.
