Eastern Parkway to close completely through August 4 for bridge repairs
Eastern Parkway is expected to be closed for about a week between Poplar Level Road/Goss Avenue and Baxter Avenue/Newburg Road as part of the bridge-replacement project over the South Fork of Beargrass Creek.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, "unsuitable subsoil conditions" have caused part of the new structure to fail, resulting in the need for complete closure.
KTC's recommendation for alternate routes are:
- Eastbound traffic should detour via eastbound Poplar Level Road to eastbound Interstate-264 (the Watterson Expressway) to northbound Newburg Road and back to Eastern.
- Westbound traffic should detour via southbound Newburg to the westbound Watterson and then to westbound Poplar Level and back to the parkway.
Local access will be allowed, including to homes on Royal Avenue.
The bridge is expected to be reopened the morning of Friday, August 4.
Trevilian Way on schedule to reopen Monday!

Chief's Walk brought Chief Conrad to Germantown
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad conversed with Elizabeth Hatchett and her sons on Samuel Street Tuesday during the Chief's Walk.
In response to recent break-ins and vandalism in Germantown, patrols have increased. Tuesday, the police presence included Chief Steve Conrad on one of his weekly Chief's Walks.
In an effort to enhance relationships between the police and the community, Chief Conrad began walking neighborhoods throughout Louisville Metro to provide opportunities for residents to connect with him one on one. The weekly walks have been a great opportunity for residents to meet the Chief and other LMPD officers in a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. The walks have also been great opportunities for neighbors to get out and meet other neighbors.
