Thanks To All Who Made The
2nd Annual Fan Fair
a Scorching Success!
Over 450 fans were donated by individual, community and corporate partners with 200 of them being distributed at the kickoff, Saturday, June 24!
We appreciate the time our Metro on the Go team, Louisville Metro Police and agencies such as the Long Term Care Ombudsmen, AARP, CareSource, LG&E, JenCare, and Senior Medicare Patrol took to talk with the community and provide beneficial resources during the event.
Box and table fans are still available through local Neighborhood Place locations and in our rural counties. For location information and availability, please call KIPDA at 502-266-5571 or the Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens at 502-574-5092.

New Innovations in Nutrition Programs and
Services Grant Opportunity to Promote the Quality and Effectiveness of
Nutrition Service Programs
The
Administration on Aging (AoA), part of the Administration for Community Living
(ACL), announces a new grant opportunity to increase the evidenced based
knowledge base of nutrition providers, drive improved health outcomes for
program recipients by promoting higher service quality, and increase program
efficiency through innovative nutrition service delivery models.
This
funding opportunity is to support innovative and promising practices that move
the aging network towards evidenced based practices that enhance the quality,
effectiveness of nutrition services programs or outcomes within the aging
services network. Innovation can include service products that appeal to
caregivers (such as web-based ordering systems and carryout food products),
increased involvement of volunteers (such as retired chefs), consideration of
eating habits and choice (such as variable meal times, salad bars, or more
fresh fruits and vegetables), new service models (testing variations and hybrid
strategies) and other innovations to better serve a generation of consumers
whose needs and preferences are different.
Please
visit the link here for more details about the grant
opportunity and application process.
This grant opportunity closes on August 7, 2017.

Property Tax Liens for Sale:
Help Save People and Neighborhoods

The
list of delinquent property taxes that are for sale came out. Please make sure
that your friends and family are not on this list. Sale of their property tax
to a private investor can add thousands of dollars to their tax ( just a form
letter from an attorney of the investor can add $500 to the debt) and the
private investor will have a lien on their home for 11 years. The investor can
start a foreclosure sale to get their money.
Aside
from the human misery this process brings, the result on impeding re-use of
property because of multiple people with liens is another poor outcome.
The private investor gets the status of government (it is a government
lien) but not the responsibility of government to care about a
neighborhood.
You
can try to enter into a payment agreement with the County Attorney and that
might prevent the sale from happening.
Here is the JCCO link:

If you want to take care of people and
neighborhoods, assist those you know who are listed to avoid this sale.
