TARC is increasing service into downtown Louisville and designating five post-event boarding areas for Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday, April 22. The service plan mirrors TARC service for Thunder in recent years.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m., on the day of the fireworks, more buses will be added on routes serving downtown, improving the frequency of bus arrival times at stops and adding capacity.
Regular TARC fares will apply. A one-way fare is $1.75 or 80 cents for passengers over the age of 65, riders with disabilities and ages 6-17. TARC ID is required for reduced fare. Children under the age of 5 ride free.

Metro Parks has been selected to receive funding through the Mayor's
SummerWorks program, administered by YouthBuild Louisville. This
particular support will fund spring training and summer employment for
approximately 10 college-track young adults ages 18 to 21 who reside in urban
Louisville neighborhoods that are the focal point of the CCCN initiative.
Those trained
participants will then be offered summer employment to conduct
out-of-school time programs serving children through selected neighborhood
youth service providers and community centers.

UofL students will help install a rain garden
and plant native perennials around the perimeter of the community garden at the
center, which helps 5,000 refugees yearly.

The Louisville Bats will host two community nights, providing
tickets, hot dogs and soft drinks to non-profit groups who would not be able to
afford a Bats game under regular circumstances on these two nights:

TreesLouisville is launching a Tree Rebate Program in
partnership with the Louisville Metro Division of Community Forestry.
An incentive to get homeowners to plant trees on private property
and to help improve our city's declining tree canopy, this program will
run through May 31st 2017 and will allow eligible participants
to receive 40% back (max. $80) on the purchase price of a shade tree.
· Participants
must be residents of Jefferson County and trees must also be planted in Jeff
Co.
· Trees must be
considered a shade/canopy tree (verified by submitting itemized receipt with
form)
· Trees must be
planted in a residential yard
· Trees must
measure at least 1in. diameter
