Welcome: Getting Strategic

Hello, and thanks for reading District 8 eNews.  We received positive feedback on the first edition and appreciate your comments and suggestions.  In case you missed the 1/17/17 edition (or want to read it again), you can always visit the District 8 eNews Archive on our News & Media page at the District 8 website.  We are also working to make hard copies of eNews editions-past available at government buildings, schools, interfaith congregations and nursing homes throughout the Highlands. In this edition of eNews, we want to introduce you to our Strategic Plan for District 8.  In fact, just by reading this you are helping to execute it.

“One Highlands,” as our strategic plan is called, is a collection of five goals, 24 objectives and 36 initiatives designed to make District 8 safer, cleaner, greener and otherwise better over the next four years.  The goals are SMART* to ensure accountability for results; the objectives anticipate and identify problems and propose solutions; and the initiatives lay out a road map for progress.

The plan is based on my campaign platform – commitments I made and intend to keep.  It is a living document and we will continue to revise, amend and improve it over time.  We will also provide Strategic Plan progress reports in this space on a quarterly basis, beginning April 11.

While January was necessarily spent getting our operation up and running, we expect to launch multiple initiatives on each part of our agenda over the rest of the quarter.  Thank you to our 34 friends and neighbors who have already volunteered to get involved and help lead teams built around specific objectives and initiatives!  We’ll be in touch soon to get started.

To the rest of you, please take another look at the Strategic Plan.  Is there a particular objective or initiative that stirs your passions and moves you to get involved, too?  Do you see anything you vehemently disagree with?  What’s missing?  All questions, comments and criticisms are valid.  Please email me at: brandon.coan@louisvilleky.gov and copy jasmine.masterson@louisvilleky.gov or call 574-1108 to discuss.  We need your help to deliver on the promise of One Highlands!  Keep reading to learn more.
