KET is hosting a prescreening of Kentucky
Veterans of the Vietnam War: In Their Own Words on November 7 at the
Kentucky Science Center. A social will begin at 6:30 PM followed by a
flag folding ceremony, missing man table reciting and display and then a 45
minute screening. Kentucky Veterans of the Vietnam War was
produced by KET and includes interviews of 65 Vietnam veterans across
Kentucky. If it were not for KET, these stories would not have been
documented and preserved for generations to come.
This event not only honors
veterans of the Vietnam War but celebrates the service of all the men and women
who have served our nation. It is also an important time to
recognize that the United States is still at war, especially given that we are
currently engaged in the Battle for Mosul and the defeat of ISIS in
Iraq.
The program is free but please
make a reservation by calling 502-589-3538.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has issued the final report on the corridor study for Chenoweth Lane. The report recommends that both sidewalk improvements and drainage improvements be made throughout the area.
The study, which can be found by clicking here, recommends the installation of curbs and gutters along Chenoweth Lane from the railroad tracks to Massie Avenue. Many of the residents who opposed the widening of Chenoweth lane or the addition of left turn lanes will be happy to knowthat the study does not recommend Chenoweth Lane for three-lane widening or bike lanes. The study also doesn't recommend the addition of left-turn lanes at any of intersections along the corridor.
The study calls for preserving the current character of the neighborhood along Chenoweth Lane from Massie to Brownsboro Road. The project will now move to Phase I of design. As we continue to get more information regarding the project we will update you here or in our biweekly eNews.
Speeding in residential areas and school zones is the most common citizen concern reported to Councilwoman Leet's office. We recognize that is a danger to pedestrians, bicyclists and children. Unfortunately the fatality rate in residential zones due to car accidents is nearly 3 times the rate on highways.
District 7 does have its own SMART Radar Machine that can be deployed through out the district. If you would like to see the SMART Machine on your street please email erin.hinson@louisvilleky.gov. We will need permission of a property owner to place the SMART Machine in their front yard.
