Sustainability Summit - It Takes a Ville

Join us for the 2016 Sustainability Summit on Saturday, October 29th, from 8:00am – 4:30pm at Bellarmine University. Leaders, educators, innovators and talented community members will convene to share best-practices, propose innovative ideas, and organize for a greener community. The event will highlight inspiring national champions who drive measurable success, and boldly connect participants to shovel-ready projects that together contribute to a more sustainable Louisville. Early bird registration is $35 for LSC members, $50 for non-members, and $25 for students. Prices increase October 24th. Scholarships are available. The event is hosted by the Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability and the Louisville Sustainability Council. Register Today!

Businesses: Drive Profits by Savings Energy

Register today for the 2016 Energy Conservation Conversation, which will focus on the theme: Save Energy. Drive Profits. The event will feature a vendor expo and educational sessions on EPAD (a new financial mechanism for installing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects), energy driven profits, and building automation. All sessions will focus on ways to increase profits through innovative energy saving methods and technologies. Attendance is expected to reach over 200 individuals. 

The trade show will be followed by a Kentucky USGBC Green Scene networking event, included in the minimal admission charge. 

  • Cost - $11.50 in advance, $17.50 at the door
  • Time - 11am - 7pm
  • Location - Kentucky Science Center, 727 W Main Street 
  • Hosts - the Louisville Energy Alliance (LEA) and the Kentucky Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA)

Celebrate Reuse Day Oct 20th

Louisville's Reuse Day

Oct 20th is Reuse Day in Louisville! In recognition, Louisville Metro Government is hosting a Reuse Summit to expand efforts to promote the reuse of materials. Speakers will include Aaroyn Bagshaw of Bigelow Tea, Ann Water of the Drepung Gomang Center For Engaging Compassion, Lynn Quire of Good Garbage, and more. Passion about reuse or want to learn more? Share your Ride using Cardinal Directions

UofL has launched a free ride-sharing and trip-planning service that’s open to the entire community. Register for a free account and you can post rides and communicate with other users to set up carpools anywhere in the region.

Share a Car for $8

Have you been wanting a one-car household? Or do you need a second car on occasion? Make it easier by joining the UofL Enterprise CarShare program, which is open to all Louisville residents. Five cars are available for check-out: four at the UofL Belknap campus, and one near the UofL School of Medicine downtown. Regular rates start at $8 per hour, gas and insurance included.

UofL students, staff and faculty - Now through December 31st, join Enterprise CarShare for $1, and rent cars for $5 per hour, gas and insurance included.

Get Involved

The Office of Sustainability partners with the non-profit Louisville Sustainability Council (LSC). The LSC’s mission is to engage and collaborate with the community to facilitate the achievement of Louisville’s sustainability goals. The organization works to improve health and quality of life in Louisville by catalyzing community action to promote citywide sustainability. Everyone is encouraged to get involved.
