Labor Day

Labor Day, was a creation of the labor movement and became a federal holiday in 1894 and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. Councilwoman Leet would like to wish all members of the American workforce a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.

Lock your car!

Recently Councilwoman Leet meet with the Majors of the 5th and 8th Divisions which protect each corner of District 7 to discuss pressing issues in the district Both Majors said that they are growing increasingly frustrated with the number of reports generated as a result of citizens not locking their cars and protecting their valuables.

Did you know that you can map in real time the crime that is happening in your area? LMPD's crime mapping tool (which can be found by clicking here) allows you to zoom in on the map to see crime in your area. We decided to test it out and what we found was shocking. During 120 day period from May 1 to today, August 29,  there have been 243 reports filed for theft from auto or theft of a vehicle crimes in and around District 7. That's roughly 2 break ins a day. You can see the map below or click here to generate your own.
