The Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is posting a 3-ton weight limit on KY 22
(Brownsboro Road) at the culvert over Little Goose Creek near Ten Broeck Way in
Jefferson County. Recent inspection showed deterioration of this
stone-arch culvert which is located between Goose Creek Road and Hurstbourne
Parkway (mile point 3.2).
The posted limit has the effect of restricting all commercial vehicle traffic
from this section of KY 22. Vehicles greater than 3-tons must use an alternate
route. Passenger vehicles and unloaded pick-up trucks will be allowed to
cross the culvert.
“Posting a
3-ton weight limit is necessary to prevent further deterioration of this
culvert and keep KY 22 open to passenger vehicles,” said Matt Bullock, chief
district engineer for the Department of Highways, Louisville District. “Our
staff has been monitoring this culvert since early 2016 and began design plans
for a replacement project.”
KYTC staff
are currently purchasing some needed right-of-way for construction of the new
culvert. Advertisement for construction bids is scheduled for early 2017.
