 Fan giveaway on July 16:
- 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. to distribute fans
at the
- United Steelworkers Local 1693 headquarters, 1233 S 10th St.
- Fans will be
available for seniors 60 and older, as well as to individuals with physical
disabilities, on first-come, first-served basis.
Fan Fair qualifications:
- Person 60 years or older
- OR
documentation verified by a physician of a physical disability
- Must be a resident of Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Shelby,
Spencer, Trimble or Bullitt counties
- Proof of address and age will we required
- One fan per household

 Amidst Kentuckiana's heroin and opioid crisis, the
Courier-Journal has developed an event to connect a community looking for a way
forward.
The event is free and open to all members of the public. Doors
will open at 6 p.m. at Frazier Hall, located on Bellarmine University's campus
- 2001 Newburg Road. Free parking will be provided.
The event's schedule is as follows:
- 6 p.m. - Visit with agency booths set up at the
site INCLUDING A METRO COUNCIL TABLE
- 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – Opportunity to watch a video, during one
of two showings, about the effects of heroin addiction that was produced by a
local high school student
- 7 p.m. - Panel discussion, Q&A with audience and
panelists
- 8:30 p.m. - Naloxone training by Kentucky Harm Reduction
Panelists include:
- Dr. William Cooke, physician in Austin, Indiana
- Amanda Hall, recovering addict and Women's Program Director at
The Healing Place
- Van Ingram, executive director for the Kentucky Office of
Drug Control Policy
- Mike O'Connell, Jefferson County Attorney who lost a son
to a heroin overdose
- Ed Small, who runs a peer support group for loved ones of
drug addicts

 Learn about planning events & Metro requirements
Join us on Saturday, July 23rd at the Urban Design Studio (507 S 3rd Street) from 10am-11:30am for bagels and discussion, followed by a half hour of informal social networking & sharing.
Need help with event planning 101, permitting and licensing, and best practices for creating or running a neighborhood event? This is your chance to talk to the Louisville leaders who have met the challenges and are willing to share their solutions!

Leaders & Liaisons is a new CFN program that gives leaders the chance to gather with neighborhood liaisons and peers, and dig into shared concerns and challenges. We aim to:

- Share local best practices on a variety of relevant topics

 July is National Park
and Recreation Month and Metro Parks and Recreation is asking you to celebrate
your favorite public parks by participating in a “Selfie” Challenge.
Visit five parks of
your choosing, snap a selfie at your favorite spot and tag your photos to the
Metro Parks and Recreation Instagram account (@loumetroparks), and use #louparksselfie on

Railroad will be working to replace railroad tracks along the southern route at
various intersections. Each intersection will be closed
approximately a week along the southern route. Signs will be placed five
days prior to the beginning of construction at each of the locations. The
schedule is listed below:

 The
Louisville Metro Council has teamed up with the Louisville Bats to provide
tickets to deserving groups in the community for certain games. Metro
Council Monday tickets are available to non-profit organizations, charitable
groups, and volunteer organizations working to improve our city. If your organization
is interested in this offer, contact Shelby Harding in the Bats office at sharding@batsbaseball.com.
Please reference your Metro Council District, the name of your organization,
and the number of tickets being requested.
The dates available are May 30,
June 13, June 27, July 25, August 8, August 22, and August 29.

Quilters - The Friday Ladies
Quilters are looking for new members and would like to extend an invitation
to all who want to join a quilting/sewing group in the Fairdale/Auburndale
area.
We meet in the Playtorium in Fridays 11:00am to 4:00pm.
