Louisville Metro Community Services Is Relocating!

As of April 11, 2016, Louisville Metro Community Services, including the Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens will be located at 701 West Ormsby Avenue, Suite 201, Louisville, KY 40203. All agency email addresses and phone numbers, including the main front desk line of 574-5050, will remain the same.

The new property is a former warehouse in Old Louisville that has been brought back to life through the work of developer and architect Bill Weyland.    There is ample, free parking at the new facility which is also accessible on several TARC bus routes.

Senior Nutrition Pilot Program

The Louisville Metro Senior Nutrition Program announces a Saturday pilot meal program.

Sandwich lunches will be offered to area seniors beginning Saturday, April 8, 2016.

Two locations:

1- The Arthur S. Kling Center

Reservations required for Saturday meals by 12:00 noon each Thursday.  Call your preferred location for further information and/or to make the meal reservation.

LIHEAP Funds Have Been Extended Through April

The former deadline of March 31 was recently pushed back to     April 30, 2016 by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which administers the LIHEAP program through a network of 23 Community Action Agencies across the state.

The three LIHEAP offices are as follows:
Central Office -- Urban Government Center, 810 Barret Ave., Room 127, 40204; 502-574-1157
East Office -- Newburg Community Center, 4810 Exeter Ave., 40218; 502-574-1270
(Note:  The East Office is closed on Fridays for LIHEAP)
South Office -- Southwest Government Center, 7219 Dixie Hwy; 502-574-1272

The following documentation must be presented when scheduling an appointment:
1) Picture ID (if available)
2) Most recent LG&E bill (must be a brown bill), or an eviction notice if utilities are included in the rent.

Individuals who are unable to apply for this program in person may send a representative on their behalf with a note including the applicant’s signature and phone number. Residents who are homebound and who are unable to send a representative may call 574-1274. Upon registering for an appointment, residents will receive an appointment slip verifying the appointment date, time and location. For more information, visit the LIHEAP website.

April 4-13, 2016 is National my Social Security  Week. With the groups and organizations, Social Security will host numerous events and activities across the country to raise awareness about the benefits of opening a secure online my Social Security account.

With a my Social Security account, you can:

  • Keep track of your earnings and verify them every year
  • Get an estimate of your future benefits, if you are still working

  • Get a letter with proof of your benefits, if you currently receive them

  • Manage your benefits
  • Change your address
  • Start or change your direct deposit
  • Get a replacement Medicare card
  • Get a replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S for tax season.

During my Social Security Week, we will hold “Check Your Statement Day” on April 7, and you can join the millions who regularly check their Social Security Statement. You can join the more than 23 million people who have opened their own my Social Security account at www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount

Financial Fitness Day 2016

Come on out to the 2016 Financial Fitness Day presented by Bank On Louisville on April 29th from 10am-2pm at the Americana Community Center. Financial Fitness Day is an opportunity for you to meet and interact with banks and other financial institutions, as well as discover what community organizations and resources are being offered in the financial empowerment community. There will also be short, interactive Q&A sessions around topics like credit, entrepreneurship and small business programs, and other assorted financial topics.
