2016 Democratic Caucus 

congratulates newly elected Metro Council President, CM David Yates D-25.

In his acceptance speech, the new president acknowledged the accomplishments of the Metro Council in the last year. The work of the MSD Flood Mitigation Group, the additional funding for road paving, new laws to control pop-up parties and public nuisances.  The President has indicated a desire to address concerns over Boards and Commissions, the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and moving forward with Google Fiber.


District 13 Now Accepting Black History Month Award Nominations

On Thursday, February 25th at 12:00 Noon, the Community Affairs Committee of the Metro Council will host the 14th Annual Black History Month Program during the Community Affairs Committee Meeting. 

Please take a moment and nominate your neighbor or co-worker that lives or works in the 13th District for this special recognition.  Please submit the name, address and your reason for the nomination of this individual to our office no later than Friday, January 29th

LIBA to Host First Ever Local Business Expo January 14th

The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), an alliance of over 750 locally owned and independent businesses, will hold the first Louisville Local Business Expo on Thursday, January 14th at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street. The expo will showcase all local and independent "Business-to-Business" companies, giving business purchasing decision makers the opportunity to explore local options for their needs. The event is open to LIBA members only from 1:00pm-2:00pm and will be open to the general public from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Admission is free with a business card.

Louisville Sells: Free Workshop for Sales Professionals

In response to the growing number of unfilled sales positions, the city is launching Louisville Sells, a training program that combines online education with hands-on workshops to build the skills to become a successful sales professional.

Over the course of the two-day workshops, participants will complete online courses through Lynda.com, a comprehensive online class site. 

The first workshop will be held on January 25th and 28th at the Louisville Central Community Center located at 1300 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd, 40203. Workshops will soon be announced for March and May with additional workshops planned for later in the year. To sign up, click here.

Cemex Tire Amnesty Program

Cemex has offered to provide an Amnesty Program for any of the tires collected. This program is available throughout the year. 

The Tire Amnesty program is designed to provide the Community-at-large the ability of placing whole, un-rimmed, discarded tires. 
Discarded tire deliveries, up to 49 at a time, must be called in to Laura Osterhoudt at (502) 935-7331 extension 378 at least 3 days prior to delivery. 

Only whole, unbroken, tires meeting size restrictions below can be accepted.

Cemex is proud to host Tire Amnesty events that place discarded passenger car tires to beneficial use and looks forward to providing this service.

Café Louie Scheduled for Feb. 6th at Fairdale Library

State Representative Jeff Donahue is anxious to meet with you on Saturday, February 6th, between 9:00 – 10:00am, at the Fairdale Library located at 10616 W. Manslick Road as a part of the Café’ Louie series of community meetings designed to give citizens a chance to meet directly with Jefferson County legislators.  

Café’ Louie is a project developed through the Bingham Fellows, the Louisville Free Public Library, the Leadership Louisville Center and the Friends of the Library.

Enjoy coffee & doughnuts with Representative Donahue while discussing the important issues facing your community and the 2016 KY Legislature.
