Fairdale Roundabout Update
The intersections where
Fairdale, Mount Holly, Mitchell Hill and Manslick Roads meet will become a
roundabout after construction of a $5.5 million project is finished. It will take 12 months to build. “It has
been in the works for ten long years, even before I came to Metro Council," said CW Welch.
“Right now, there is a
flashing light at the intersection, but there are still lots of accidents and
other traffic issues that the roundabout should fix. Change is
going to be scary for everyone around here because it has been the same for so
long, but when
the people get used to it, then it will happen," CW Welch
said. "The good thing is it will slow down the traffic. It is way too
fast coming through there."
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is expected to choose a
contractor next week and break ground in December.
New Councilman for Metro Council District 10 Sworn In
Pat Mulvihill was sworn in as new the District 10 Councilman at Thursday's Metro Council Meeting. "I wish him the best as he joins our Metro Council as a public servant for our community!"

2015 Congress of Cities in Nashville, Tenn., November 4-7. On Thursday, Nov. 5, Vice President, Joe Biden
delivered remarks to city leaders during the Opening General Session. Among issues explored at the Conference, were trends in mobility and technology in cities and identified ways to move
|
seamlessly and efficiently into the future of mobility. Transportation is critical for our cities and NLC
identified specific issues to help cities anticipate changes and prepare
accordingly.
CW Welch and former Mayor Jerry Abramson, who was in attendance in his current position as Deputy Assistant
to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, take time to catch up.

Louisville
- Tuesdays and
Fridays at 2 p.m. (No session November 27)
- Southwest Regional Library, 9725 Dixie Highway, Louisville
- Mondays at 2

Free Leaf Drop-Off until December 5th
Louisville Metro residents have three good options for disposal of
falling leaves this autumn. The best option is a “Love ‘em and Leave ‘em”
approach that leads to healthier yards as described below.
Other choices, in order of preference, include reusable containers
and compostable containers. As a last resort the Solid Waste Management
Division of Public Works is offering a free leaf drop-off service. The drop-off
service will be available Tuesday through Saturday, November 10 through
December 5.
Drop-off will not be available on November 26 and 27 in observance
of the Thanksgiving holiday. Yard Waste Container Regulation went into effect on January 1, 2015. The
update requires that yard waste be disposed of in reusable or compostable
containers instead of regular plastic bags.
