October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Wear a little Purple with your Pink.

domestic violence awareness ribbonAs we think about how to reduce violence in our community, it is also a good time to acknowledge less obvious affects of of domestic (or intimate partner) violence.

Want to improve heart health and mental health? reduce asthma and substance abuse?

Violence in the home is related to poor physical and mental health - not only for the targets of the abuse, but also the children who are exposed to the abuse.

We must work with families to recognize the risk and stop the violence.
