CW Welch Presented
2015 Golden Broom Award
 Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch
was awarded one of this year’s Golden Brooms by Lorri Roberts, Brightside Volunteer Coordinator, for organizing and participating
in not one cleanup event, but two.
Each Spring Brightside
recognizes excellence for participation in our Community-Wide Cleanup. There
are many ways that our Council members can earn this coveted award; by hosting
their own cleanup, recruiting groups in their district to participate, joining
one of the groups already engaged, or build community by hosting a gathering of
the groups in their district for a celebration before or after their cleanup.
Working with her neighbors in District
13, Councilwoman Welch helped to restore Fenley Cemetery, originally part of a
small farm with graves dating all the way back to the Civil War. CW
Welch worked to provide extra tools and supplies that were specific to the type
and scope of the work that was needed to restore this piece of Louisville’s
history. Her second cleanup took place with community members and a team
from Passport Health Plan to conduct a more traditional cleanup.
