FY 2016 Capital and Operating Budgets for Metro Louisville Pass

ml

After several weeks of debate Louisville Metro Council by a 25-1 vote, passed an amended version of approximately $878 million budget on Thursday to fund metro government through the 2015-16 fiscal year with a heavy emphasis on improving the city's roads.  The Council  approved an amendment that will add an additional $5.1 million specifically for road paving for a total of  over 13 million dollars.

“I said after the Mayor’s budget presentation that we needed a more aggressive approach to paving our terrible roads.  I’m pleased the Council took that initiative and we will make substantial progress over the next year” commented Dan Johnson.

The three most hotly debated issues in Mayor Greg Fischer's next fiscal year budget, which was initially presented to Metro Council on May 28th, were Louisville Metro Police's body camera program, a needle exchange program for Metro Louisville and road repaving issues. The budget includes the requested $2.8 million for LMPD body cameras and $200,000 for the needle exchange program.
