The Old Louisville
Neighborhood Council and District 6 Councilman David James are proud to present
the 4th Annual Old Louisville SpringFest on Friday May 15th from 4pm to 9pm and
on Saturday May 16th from 10am to 9pm. SpringFest is held on First Street and Ormsby Avenue in historic
Old Louisville and presents a wonderfully eclectic selection of vendors, artists, non-profit
organizations, music and tasty festival food choices and local food trucks.
The Kosair Charities Kidzone will
be open for children 12 and under on Saturday from noon-6pm. This year’s KidZone theme will be “Let’s
Dance” and will feature several bouncy houses, games, a dance floor with
demonstrations from local dance troops, a street art demonstration and many
other dance and exercise-inspired activities!
For the adults, cocktails,
live music and the now famous bourbon slushies will also be on tap.
SpringFest is honored to
present the internationally renowned jazz / pop singer, Karan Chavis on Saturday May 16th at 6pm. One of the hottest (and
most creative) local bands, In
Lightening, will perform both Friday and Saturday from 7-9pm.
SpringFest wouldn't be
SpringFest without fantastic shopping!
Come ready to shop as we again welcome 100+ of the most creative,
talented, cutting edge and locally focused selection of vendors and artists…
find treasures ranging from handmade jewelry, antiques, clothing, metal work,
etc.
In previous years, the Old
Louisville SpringFest has brought between 7,000-10,000 visitors to this beautiful
neighborhood – the largest collection of Victorian homes in the country. The
aim of SpringFest is to celebrate not only all things “Old Louisville”, but
also “local” and to raise much needed funds to support local restoration and
beautification projects.
So come on out a show your support for the Old Louisville SpringFest, you won't want to miss it.
Louisville Metro police officers and safety mascots were among the crowd cheering on 60 children as they all proudly graduated from a gun safety and violence prevention program.
Board 4 Change, a non-profit organization, organized the ceremony for children who completed the Something New-Something Good, Little Hands & Little Feet Gun Safety and Violence Prevention Program.
The programs lasts 10 weeks for preschool and elementary aged children and 12 weeks for middle and high school age children.
During the program children learn gun safety, non-violent conflict resolution skills and the importance of respecting laws and being a good citizen.
A Special Thank You to Mr. Luther Brown for your continued help with this program and also throughout District 6. We appreciate all that you do!
