Reminder: WIDA ACCESS Exit Criteria Committee Work
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is in the process of revising the WIDA ACCESS English Learner (EL) exit criteria because of new WIDA Standards. This work requires the support and expertise of Kentucky educators with a background in English Learner education. Therefore, KDE is inviting EL specialists to participate in this important committee work to review and redefine the EL exit criteria to ensure the exit criteria accurately reflect student readiness for academic success. This collaborative opportunity will bring together EL classroom teachers, specialists, and EL administrators to share expertise, examine data, and provide valuable input that directly impacts English Learners across the Commonwealth. Participants will play a key role in shaping equitable and effective exit criteria while contributing firsthand knowledge of student needs and instructional practices.
The meeting date is Saturday, Sept. 19, and participants will receive a stipend for participation. Those interested should complete the WIDA ACCESS Reclassification Application by Monday, Aug. 17. KDE encourages educators to join this important work and help strengthen outcomes for Kentucky’s Multilingual Learners (MLs).
